Madrid, October 11 (Hibya) - Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez appealed to the Supreme Court amid a debate over the voting rights of descendants of people forced into exile during the Franco regime.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez appealed to the Supreme Court amid a debate over the voting rights of descendants of people forced into exile during the Franco regime.
In his statement, Sanchez criticized challenges to the Democratic Memory Law, raising concerns about the possibility that the grandchildren of those exiled under Franco could be unable to vote while the grandchildren of the regime's supporters would retain that right.
Calling on the Supreme Court to intervene in the matter, Sanchez stated, "In a democracy, the right to vote is not prohibited; it is guaranteed."
