Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez made a statement following his meeting with civil society organizations representing victims of sexual abuse within the Church.

Referring to the suffering of the victims and the agreement reached, Sanchez said: “Today I met with associations of victims of abuse within the Catholic Church. Nothing can erase what happened, but the agreement reached for compensation is necessary.”

Emphasizing the importance of preventing such incidents from happening again, Sanchez stated: “This should never have happened and must never happen again.”

Sanchez concluded his statement by saying: “Today Spain is a better country.”
