School Collapse in Indonesia
Jakarta, September 30 (Hibya) – In East Java, Indonesia, the collapse of a boarding school building resulted in the death of at least one student, dozens injured, and reports indicate that 65 students remain trapped under the rubble.
According to The Guardian, on Monday, the building of the Al Khoziny Islamic boarding school in Sidoarjo, East Java, collapsed, killing at least one student. Local authorities stated that students praying at the time were trapped beneath the rubble, and 65 students were listed as missing.
Rescue teams, police, and soldiers continued search and rescue operations throughout the night, rescuing at least eight injured students from the rubble. However, the death toll may rise as additional bodies were found at the scene.
Families of students aged between 12 and 17 continue their anxious wait at hospitals and around the school. Rescue teams are attempting to deliver oxygen and water to those trapped.
