Asian stock markets traded mostly lower during the day's session as investors maintained a risk-off stance.

Major regional equity indices came under selling pressure, with Japanese markets leading the losses.

Japan's Nikkei index fell 3.07 percent to 64,385.20 points, recording the sharpest decline of the day. Australia's ASX 200 index also lost 0.97 percent to 8,753.10 points.

India's Nifty 50 index traded at 23,633.30, down 0.99 percent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index (HSI) declined 1.27 percent to 24,891.84 points.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.20 percent to 3,830.194 points, reinforcing the negative sentiment across the region.

The broad-based sell-off in Asian markets suggests weakening global risk appetite, while investors continue to closely monitor macroeconomic developments and global uncertainties.
