According to a statement from the China Manned Space Engineering Office, the return capsule of the Shenzhou-20 spacecraft successfully landed today at 09:34 local time at the Dongfeng landing site in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in northern China.
The return of Shenzhou-20, which was to bring back the Shenzhou-20 crew serving aboard China’s Tiangong Space Station, had been postponed to a later date due to a crack detected in the spacecraft’s window in early November last year. The spacecraft departed the space station uncrewed at 00:23 local time today to return to Earth.
On November 14, 2025, the Shenzhou-20 crew landed at the Dongfeng landing site aboard the Shenzhou-21 spacecraft. On November 25, 2025, the Shenzhou-22 spacecraft was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China. This launch was recorded as the first emergency launch mission in the history of China’s manned space program.
It was reported that the Shenzhou-22 spacecraft will be used as the return vehicle for the Shenzhou-21 crew currently serving aboard the space station.
