Some domestic flights resume after Iran closes its airspace
Stockholm, Jan. 15 (Hibya) — In Iran, several hours after the country closed its airspace to all flights except those with prior authorization, some domestic flights appear to have resumed.
According to open-source flight data, several commercial aircraft took off toward Tehran airports on Thursday morning local time.
Flight-tracking website Flightradar24 said on X: “After the NOTAM closing Iran’s airspace expired, some flights are now heading toward Tehran.”
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced on Wednesday that Iran’s airspace was temporarily closed to all flights, except for international civil takeoffs and landings that had received prior authorization from Iran’s Civil Aviation Authority.
