Prime Minister Starmer said he welcomed Alaa Abd El-Fattah’s return to the United Kingdom and his reunion with his family. “I am very pleased that Alaa Abd El-Fattah has returned to the country and been reunited with his loved ones; the family must feel a great sense of relief,” he said.

Starmer thanked Alaa’s family and everyone who worked to make this moment possible, adding: “Alaa’s case has been among the top priorities since our government took office. I am grateful to President Sisi for this decision.”
