Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that he held a phone call with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas following Russia's attacks on Ukraine.

Sybiha stated that during the call they discussed the consequences of Russia's attacks and the need to strengthen Ukraine's air defenses, particularly against ballistic missiles.

Stressing that tougher sanctions should be imposed on Russia's ballistic missile production and the structures supporting that production, Sybiha called for an increase in Ukraine's air defense capacity.

Sybiha also said that they discussed Russia's attempts to disrupt the operation of Ukraine's maritime corridor, emphasizing the importance of food security and ensuring that Ukraine's food exports reach global markets.

Sybiha noted that ahead of the high-level week of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, joint efforts on food security were coordinated and additional steps were agreed upon.
