The US held a "good and productive meeting" with Putin
Washington, March 15 (Hibya) - US President Donald Trump stated that the US delegation had good and productive talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Russian President and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio say they are moderately optimistic, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky does not agree and claims that Putin is prolonging negotiations to continue the war.
US Ambassador Steve Witkoff met with Russian officials in Moscow yesterday and conveyed Putin's priorities to Trump today. Trump stated that he asked Putin to spare the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, whom he described as being in a very vulnerable position and completely surrounded by Russia.
Trump emphasized that there is a high probability of reaching an agreement to end the war.
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated that there is no scheduled meeting between Trump and Putin today, but Trump is pressuring Russia to do the right thing.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed moderate optimism that Russia would accept the US ceasefire proposal but emphasized that there is still a lot of work to be done.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian President is moderately optimistic about the ceasefire but noted that some issues still need to be resolved before finalizing agreements.
