Trump: My departure from the G7 summit has nothing to do with Israel-Iran ceasefire
Stockholm, June 17 (Hibya) – U.S. President Donald Trump rejected claims that he left the G7 summit in Canada early to work on a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, calling Emmanuel Macron a “publicity seeker” on social media.
Trump said he had “no idea” why the French president believed that and said the reason for his return to Washington was “much bigger” than a ceasefire.
Earlier, Macron had claimed that Trump made a “proposal” for a ceasefire.
In his post, Trump wrote: “Publicity-seeking French President Emmanuel Macron falsely claimed I left the G7 summit in Canada to return to Washington to work on a ‘ceasefire’ between Israel and Iran. Wrong!”
“He doesn’t know why I went back to Washington, but it has absolutely nothing to do with a ceasefire. It’s something much bigger. Intentional or not, Emmanuel is always wrong. Stay tuned!”
