Trump to Canada: Get in line, or the consequences will be much worse
Washington, August 24 (Hibya) - United States (US) President Donald Trump targeted Ontario Premier Doug Ford, arguing that the US had carried Canada for decades. Claiming that Canada is economically dependent on the United States, Trump told the country to “get in line” and warned that otherwise Canada would face much more severe consequences.
US President Trump made harsh remarks about Canada and Ontario Premier Doug Ford.
Trump described Ford’s statements as “loud talk” and characterized the Ontario premier as the “less charismatic, intelligent and generally unimpressive brother” of the late former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.
Trump argued that the United States had carried Canada for decades and said that was now over, stating: “The United States will always be much bigger, richer and stronger than Canada.”
Trump claimed that Canada could not survive without the United States and argued that a significant portion of the country’s economic resources are linked to the US. He said a substantial share of Canada’s electricity, oil and natural gas is transported through the United States.
Trump also criticized Canada’s current leadership, targeting Prime Minister Mark Carney and Doug Ford. Saying Canada would no longer be allowed to take advantage of the United States, Trump said: “Someone needs to get these clowns in line. Otherwise, the consequences for Canada will be much worse.”
Trump claimed that Canada’s unemployment rate had reached 10 percent and was rising rapidly, while Canadian businesses were moving to the United States. He argued that this was the result of Canada’s failed policies and inadequate leadership.
Trump also said the era in which US farmers and other businesses were “taken advantage of” by Canada had ended, concluding his remarks with: “Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
