Tsahkna: Black Sea security is European security
Tallinn, October 15 (Hibya) – Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna held Russia responsible for attacks on commercial vessels in the Black Sea, reporting that at least five commercial ships had been targeted by drones over the past week in areas close to the territorial waters of Bulgaria and Romania.
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna claimed in a statement that Russia is solely responsible for the growing instability in the Black Sea. Tsahkna said that at least five commercial vessels had been struck by drones near the territorial waters of Bulgaria and Romania over the past week, resulting in ships sinking, sailors being injured and loss of life.
Tsahkna argued that the attacks on commercial vessels were a consequence of Russia's efforts to isolate Ukraine by disrupting maritime trade, blocking shipping routes and targeting civilian infrastructure and vessels. He stated that Moscow's actions clearly violate international law and freedom of navigation.
Tsahkna emphasized that the attacks endanger global supply chains, threaten food security and undermine regional stability, stressing that Russia must be held accountable.
Stating that Black Sea security is European security, Tsahkna said Estonia is coordinating closely with its European Union partners, NATO allies, Bulgaria and Romania.
