Tsahkna: Russians should not be allowed to vacation while Ukrainians are dying
Tallinn, June 4 (Hibya) - Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stated that it is unacceptable for Russian citizens to spend their holidays in Europe while the war and loss of life continue in Ukraine.
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna announced that Estonia and ten other countries have submitted a joint letter containing new measures aimed at restricting the issuance of European Union (EU) tourist visas to Russian citizens.
Drawing attention to the contradiction between the humanitarian consequences of the war and visa liberalization, Tsahkna said, “While Ukrainians are dying, Russians should not be allowed to vacation on European beaches.”
Referring to the joint initiative aimed at increasing diplomatic and social pressure on Russia, Tsahkna stated, “Estonia and ten other countries have proposed new measures in a joint letter to limit the issuance of EU tourist visas to Russian citizens.”
