Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said his country would increase its support for Ukraine through NATO's PURL initiative, contributing to the procurement of air defense systems and ammunition.

In his statement, Tsahkna said: "Today, Estonia decided to contribute an additional 10 million euros through NATO's PURL initiative. This brings our total contribution through this mechanism to 31 million euros. This support will help Ukraine obtain the air defense systems and ammunition it urgently needs."

Tsahkna stated that Estonia's military assistance to Ukraine this year had reached 0.28 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP), noting that hundreds of thousands of people had been left without electricity due to Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

Emphasizing the vital importance of support as winter approaches, Tsahkna said: "This support is essential for protecting lives and maintaining basic services."

Tsahkna said that strengthening Ukraine's ability to defend itself would reduce Russia's ability to dictate the terms of peace, adding: "We must continue supporting Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia."
