UK and Cyprus set to enhance cooperation in space activities
London, April 14 (Hibya) – Professor Anu Ojha, International Director of the UK Space Agency, said there is great potential for collaboration in space activities that would add a new dimension to the UK’s strong partnership with Cyprus.
Cyprus and the United Kingdom are preparing for closer cooperation in space following a bilateral event held in Nicosia on March 27–28.
Supported by the European Space Agency (ESA), the first Cyprus–UK Bilateral Cooperation Event brought together representatives from both countries’ space sectors and governments.
The Government of Cyprus used the event to announce its intention to join ESA as an associate member.
Professor Ojha said: “There is significant potential to add a new dimension to the UK’s strong partnership with Cyprus through collaboration in space. This has never been more important, as space is firmly established as a vital tool for driving economic growth, environmental protection and national security.”
He added: “Cyprus has significantly expanded its space sector in recent years through cooperation with ESA, and we look forward to working very closely with them in the future.”
