Ukraine welcomes UN Human Rights Council resolution
Kyiv, July 6 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha welcomed the unanimous adoption by the United Nations Human Rights Council of the updated resolution on the negative impacts of disinformation on human rights.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Ukraine welcomes the unanimous adoption by the United Nations Human Rights Council of the updated resolution on the negative impacts of disinformation on human rights.
Sybiha noted that the draft resolution was prepared under Ukraine's leadership together with Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and the United Kingdom.
Emphasizing that Ukraine has been leading this agenda since 2022, Sybiha stated that the country will continue its efforts to safeguard information integrity and keep the impact of disinformation on human rights high on the international community's agenda.
Sybiha said that disinformation is not a theoretical issue for Ukraine, arguing that in the context of Russia's aggression, false information has been used to justify aggression, conceal violations, and undermine human rights.
He added that the unanimous adoption of the resolution by the UN Human Rights Council once again demonstrated the need for a human rights-based approach to combating disinformation, and thanked all countries that supported the resolution.
