Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha congratulated Cyprus on assuming the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, stating that he welcomed the fact that among the priorities of Cyprus’s 2026 EU Council Presidency are the continuation of support for Ukraine and the importance attached to establishing a lasting, just and comprehensive peace.

In this context, Sybiha expressed his wish to pursue close and constructive cooperation with the Cypriot Presidency and with Constantinos Kombos in order to advance Ukraine’s EU accession negotiations and to strengthen Europe’s security architecture through continued support for Ukraine and closer integration of defense industries.

He said: “I wish success to Cyprus’s 2026 Presidency of the Council of the European Union at this critical time for the implementation of our shared priorities toward a stronger, more autonomous and more prosperous Europe.”
