Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha criticizes Paralympic decision
Kyiv, February 18 (Hibya) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reacted to the participation of Russia and Belarus in the Paralympic Games with national symbols.
In a post on social media, Foreign Minister Sybiha stated that while Russia continues its war against Ukraine, the waving of the flags of aggressor states at the Paralympic Games is “morally and politically wrong.”
Sybiha emphasized that the acceptance of Russia and Belarus with national symbols cannot be separated from the crimes committed by the aggressive regimes these countries pursue. The minister said, “In today’s Russia, even Paralympic sport has been used to glorify participants in the war. Granting such a system a prestigious international platform sends a dangerous message.”
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister announced that he had instructed ambassadors to meet with authorities in the host countries and not to attend the opening ceremony, stating that Ukraine will continue its efforts to protect justice, dignity, and the integrity of international sport.
