Ukrainian President Zelensky speaks with Canadian Prime Minister Carney
Kyiv, March 16 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Zelensky stated that he spoke with Canadian Prime Minister Carney: "I congratulated him on assuming office and thanked Canada for its support, especially in defense packages and assistance to our energy sector."
Zelensky noted that Carney raised important points regarding the need to increase pressure on Moscow, stating:
"Shadow fleet, banking sector. We must impose full sanctions on everything that finances Russia’s war. Only then can we force Putin to accept a just and lasting peace. We also discussed the humanitarian aspects of security guarantees for Ukraine, including rebuilding the country and supporting the economy after the war ends. We will work on this."
The Ukrainian president noted that Ukraine’s issue was addressed during Canada’s G7 presidency: "We will continue interaction in various formats and at different levels to make our cooperation more meaningful and practical."
