Umerov holds security diplomacy talks in Türkiye
Ankara, January 1 (Hibya) – Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov held meetings in Ankara with Türkiye’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan and National Intelligence Organization (MIT) chief İbrahim Kalın.

In a statement about the meeting, Umerov said: “We discussed the security situation, the course of the negotiation processes, and coordination on additional steps to be taken. As always, we attached special importance to humanitarian issues and the return of our people.”
Emphasizing that Türkiye is an important partner for Ukraine, Umerov said: “Türkiye is one of Ukraine’s key partners and one of the pivotal platforms for dialogue. We continue our work in close cooperation.”

Stating that he briefed the President of Ukraine on the outcomes of the contacts after the meeting, Umerov added that, as part of his visit to Türkiye, he also held a working meeting with MIT chief Kalın.
Regarding this meeting, Umerov said: “We made assessments of the security situation, discussed possible scenarios, and coordinated the steps to be taken in line with the negotiation processes and regional dynamics.”
The statement also noted that the release of prisoners of war detained by Russia, as well as the return of civilians and children, were on the agenda of the talks.
Umerov noted that efforts would continue systematically within the framework of existing cooperation formats.
