U.S. issues travel warning for the Southeastern Anatolia region
Istanbul, March 9 (Hibya) - The U.S. Embassy in Ankara announced that the travel advisory for Türkiye’s Southeastern Anatolia region has been raised to “Level 4 – Do Not Travel”.
The U.S. Embassy in Ankara announced that the travel advisory for Türkiye’s Southeastern Anatolia region has been raised to “Level 4 – Do Not Travel”. The travel advisory for the whole of Türkiye remains at “Level 2 – Exercise Increased Caution”.
The statement said that the risk area in the southeast was updated in line with changes in the operations of U.S. diplomatic missions and that there were no other changes across Türkiye.
It was also noted that as of March 9, 2026, as a precautionary measure, non-essential U.S. government personnel working at the U.S. Consulate General in Adana and their families were requested to leave the region.
