European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made a statement on the conflict in Gaza. She said: “We welcome President Donald Trump’s determination to end the war in Gaza. We encourage all parties to seize this opportunity,” and stressed that the European Union is ready to contribute.

Von der Leyen emphasized the urgent need for humanitarian aid and the immediate release of hostages, stating that the only path to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East is a two-state solution in which Israelis and Palestinians live side by side in peace and security, free from violence and terror.

She also stated that she invited the NATO Secretary General to a discussion on security, noting: “We are in a period where Europe’s determined action in coordination with NATO in Russia’s war against Ukraine could lead to a true turning point.”
