Von der Leyen: The EU continues to be a reliable partner in Syria
New York, September 23 (Hibya) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that she held a productive meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly and announced that the European Union would continue its support for Syria's transition process.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen discussed developments in Syria and the EU's efforts regarding the country during her meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
Von der Leyen said that the EU continues to be a reliable partner for a peaceful, stable and inclusive transition in Syria, free from harmful foreign interference, and emphasized that they are actively working for the country's reconstruction and recovery.
Von der Leyen also said that they are working for the safe and voluntary return of refugees, adding, “As part of the next steps, we aim to mobilize more investment and take our partnership to a higher level.”
