European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that 2 million euros in funding will be provided to support Colombia, where search and rescue operations are continuing.

In a statement, Ursula von der Leyen said that search and rescue operations were ongoing and that the European Union was supporting Colombia in every possible area.

Von der Leyen said that 2 million euros would be made available to support communities in Colombia's hardest-hit regions, adding that following Colombia's activation of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, efforts were under way to match assistance with needs on the ground. The EU Civil Protection Mechanism enables the coordination of emergency assistance requests from countries affected by disasters.
