WHO warns about mental health during pregnancy
Geneva, September 7 (Hibya) - The World Health Organization (WHO) highlighted the importance of mental health during and after pregnancy, calling for early support in response to symptoms such as sadness, lack of energy and motivation, excessive worry, and changes in sleep and eating patterns.
WHO issued a warning on protecting mental health during pregnancy and the postpartum period.
In a post on social media, WHO emphasized the importance of recognizing mental health-related symptoms during and after pregnancy and seeking support at an early stage.
The post listed sadness, lack of energy and motivation, excessive worry, sleeping or eating more or less than usual, difficulty making decisions, feelings of guilt, hopelessness and worthlessness, as well as body aches that cannot be linked to a specific cause, among the signs that warrant attention from a mental health perspective.
WHO stressed that early support should be sought if such symptoms are noticed.
