Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that a terrible situation is currently unfolding in Odessa, noting that 9 people, including a child, had died as a result of a natural disaster.

Zelensky said that information regarding another missing person was still being verified, and in his statement he added:

“The State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the National Police are engaged in rescue and recovery operations. Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba presented a report today on the situation in the city and explained the circumstances behind a tragedy of this scale. I instructed him to conduct a thorough review of the operations in Odessa and of all the facts that led to the tragedy and such severe consequences.”
