Zelensky and Mattarella highlight European security and support for Ukraine
Kyiv, April 15 (Hibya) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed European security, energy support, and Ukraine’s European Union (EU) accession process during his meeting with Italian President Sergio Mattarella.

The course of the war in Ukraine, the security situation across Europe, and developments in the Middle East and Gulf region were discussed during the meeting. Zelensky provided information on security cooperation agreements with countries in the region.
Emphasizing the importance of establishing a common defense system in Europe, Zelensky underlined that support for strengthening Ukraine’s energy infrastructure is critical.
The parties also evaluated the planned €90 billion financing package for Ukraine, the 20th sanctions package against Russia, and negotiation topics related to Ukraine’s EU accession process.
Zelensky thanked Italy for its support to Ukraine’s energy sector throughout the winter and expressed appreciation for Rome’s firm stance in supporting Ukraine.
