In a post on X, Zelensky said that several important meetings and diplomatic initiatives aimed at ending the war, which is entering its fourth year in his country, will take place in early January.

Zelensky stated that Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is in contact with a number of key partners across the United States and Europe as Kyiv prepares new formats and hosts meetings in the coming days.

The first of these meetings will be held on Saturday, with Ukraine’s national security advisers and cabinet members expected to hold talks. European representatives as well as U.S. officials will also participate via video link.

Just two days later, Kyiv plans to organize another domestic meeting with the participation of senior defense and military officials to discuss security guarantees in the event that a potential peace agreement is reached.

Zelensky announced: “On January 5, a military meeting will be held with the participation of chiefs of general staff. The main topic will be security guarantees for Ukraine.”

The Ukrainian leader also added that the so-called Coalition of the Willing plans to hold its first leaders-level meeting of the year in France, at a time when Europe aims to strengthen Ukraine’s defense against Russian attacks and discuss strategy in ongoing peace talks.
