In his statement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said: "The Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant has been in an unprecedented emergency for the seventh day." He noted that due to Russian shelling, the plant had lost power, was disconnected from the electricity grid, and was being supplied by diesel generators.

Zelensky described this as an extraordinary situation and added:

"The generators and the plant were not designed for this; they have never operated in this mode for so long, and we already have information that one generator has failed. What prevents the repair of the power lines to the plant and the restoration of basic safety is the Russian shelling.

This is a threat to everyone; no terrorist in the world has ever dared to do to a nuclear plant what Russia is doing. And it is right that the world does not remain silent."
