Zelensky: We decided to appoint Skybiuk as Chief of the General Staff
Kyiv, July 22 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced new decisions regarding the senior leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the appointment of Major General Ihor Skybiuk as Chief of the General Staff.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared details about the army's new command structure and organizational measures.
Speaking about the appointments and the next steps, Zelensky said: "We have determined the sequence of the next steps. Today, the decisions regarding changes in the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be formalized, and the relevant decrees are being prepared. Together with Mykhailo Drapatyi and Yevhenii Khmara, we decided to appoint Major General Ihor Skybiuk as Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine."
Referring to Major General Ihor Skybiuk's experience, Zelensky said: "He is an extremely experienced officer who defended Ukraine shoulder to shoulder with the new Commander-in-Chief. It is important that all components of our Armed Forces continue to operate in full coordination. We also determined how Oleksandr Syrskyi and Andrii Hnatov will continue to serve in the defense of our country."
Zelensky concluded his remarks by saying: "We discussed the organizational decisions that must be implemented, including the development of Ukraine's cyber forces, the training of our soldiers, strengthening the capabilities of our units, and the further development of the corps system."
