Zelensky: We must ensure that America wants to stand alongside a strong Europe
Kyiv, February 15 (Hibya) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke at the Munich Security Conference.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized at the Munich Conference that European policy should not be limited to promises alone. "We must ensure that America wants to stand alongside a strong Europe. Europe must determine its future with confidence so that others have no choice but to respect its strength," Zelensky said.
Zelensky reported that a day before his speech in Munich, a Russian attack drone struck the sarcophagus covering the ruined fourth reactor of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. He noted that the Shahed drone, modified by Russia using Iranian technology, carried at least 50 kilograms of explosives, calling the attack a deeply symbolic move by Russia.
Despite Russia's continued attacks on Ukraine, nuclear energy remains a critical factor for energy security, he emphasized. Zelensky announced plans to expand the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant with the participation of American investors, strengthening not only Ukraine's energy security but that of all of Europe.
"This is not just madness. This is Russia’s stance. A country that carries out such attacks does not want peace. It is not preparing for dialogue. Almost every day, Russia launches up to 100 Shahed drones, ballistic missile attacks, and an increasing number of airstrikes," Zelensky stated.
