2024 National Security Situation Report approved
Sofia, January 13 (Hibya) – The Security Council, convened under the chairmanship of Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, approved the 2024 National Security Situation Report. The meeting also addressed the implications of global developments in Ukraine, Venezuela, Greenland and Iran.
According to a statement by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Security Council of the Council of Ministers, which met on January 12, 2026 under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, approved the Annual National Security Situation Report of the Republic of Bulgaria for 2024.
Within the scope of the meeting, council members examined in detail the current situation in Venezuela and the potential risks it poses to regional and global security. Expected geopolitical developments related to Greenland were also discussed.
The council also paid close attention to the situation in Iran, the country’s internal political processes, and the impact of these processes on the stability of the Middle East.
Possible scenarios for the development of the conflict in Ukraine and the impact of diplomatic efforts to establish sustainable peace on European and international security were discussed. In this process, the importance of Bulgaria demonstrating a coordinated and consistent approach within allied formats was emphasized.
