According to CCTV, Houthi-run Al-Masirah television reported that Saudi warplanes carried out three airstrikes on the port city of Mocha in Yemen’s Taiz province.

Six people were reported killed and eight others injured in the strikes.

The report said the airstrikes were carried out on Tuesday, while Saudi authorities have not yet issued a statement on the incident.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea also claimed in a statement on Monday that Saudi Arabia had carried out 917 airstrikes since the latest escalation began.

The strikes on Mocha came after reports on Saturday of explosions and black smoke near King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

The Houthis said they had targeted “sensitive sites” in the Saudi capital, while Saudi authorities did not confirm any attack. Saudi Arabia only announced that a ballistic missile launched toward Riyadh had been intercepted and neutralized.

The latest escalation in the region was reported to have followed Houthi advances along the Red Sea coast in southwestern Yemen earlier this month.

The conflict in Yemen began in late 2014 when the Houthis seized control of the capital Sanaa and much of northern Yemen, while the Saudi-led coalition intervened in March 2015 to support Yemen’s internationally recognized government.
