Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Jose Manuel Albares, emphasized the importance of diplomacy in resolving crises in the Middle East, highlighting the need to ensure the security of global trade routes.

Describing the understanding between the two countries as a positive step, Albares said: “I welcome the announcement of the agreement reached between the United States and Iran. I appreciate the efforts of the mediators. Free and safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz is essential.”

Minister Albares also referred to other areas of tension in the region and the situation in Lebanon, stating: “Dialogue and negotiation can resolve unresolved issues, including those in Lebanon, and can guarantee a ceasefire.”
