Aliyev: Azerbaijan-US relations have reached their highest point in 34-year history
Baku, August 8 (Hibya) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev sent a letter to US President Donald Trump on the first anniversary of the August 8, 2025 Washington Summit, which laid the foundation for peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Aliyev said the Washington Summit was a historic turning point for achieving lasting peace in the South Caucasus, stating, “A year ago, by taking on this historic responsibility, you created a turning point in the pursuit of lasting peace in the South Caucasus.”
Aliyev said significant developments had taken place in relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the past year, adding, “We are already seeing the tangible benefits of peace in economic, trade and other areas.”
Aliyev also noted the historic importance of the Washington Summit for Azerbaijan-US relations, saying that relations between the two countries had entered a new stage of strategic partnership. Aliyev stated, “We can now proudly say that Azerbaijan-US relations have reached their highest point in the 34-year history of our diplomatic relations.”
Aliyev thanked Trump for his contributions to the peace process in the region and for his role in strengthening the Azerbaijan-US strategic partnership.
