Araghchi: Iran is exercising its legitimate right of self-defense to protect its national sovereignty
Tehran, March 6 (Hibya) - Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyid Abbas Araghchi held phone calls with the foreign ministers of Cuba, India and Sri Lanka as well as the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a phone call with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla to discuss the latest developments in the region and the consequences of the military attacks carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran.
During the call, Cuban Foreign Minister Rodriguez expressed condolences for those who lost their lives in Iran and stated that Cuba stands in solidarity with the Iranian government and people, reiterating his country’s support for Iran.
Araghchi evaluated the recent attacks carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran, stating that these actions constitute a clear violation of the United Nations Charter and the fundamental principles of international law. He emphasized that Iran will exercise its legitimate right of self-defense to protect its national sovereignty and territorial integrity and expressed confidence in the country’s defense capabilities with the support of the Iranian people.
The Iranian foreign minister also held separate phone calls with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath. The talks addressed the attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran, regional developments and bilateral relations.
Araghchi thanked Sri Lanka for its efforts in rescuing sailors from the frigate Dena and stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of Iranian ships.
Araghchi also held a phone call with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, during which the attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran were discussed.
Malaysian Prime Minister Ibrahim expressed condolences to the Iranian government and people for those who lost their lives in the attacks and described the military operations by the United States and Israel as contrary to international law.
Araghchi thanked Malaysia for its message of support for Iran and its stance condemning the attacks, emphasizing that Iran will firmly defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
