At least 71 killed in traffic accident in Ethiopia
Stockholm, December 30 (Hibya) - At least 71 people were killed in a traffic accident in Ethiopia. Local authorities said a truck filled with passengers fell into a river in Sidama region.
The regional communications office stated late Sunday that a truck filled with passengers fell into a river in Sidama region, approximately 300 kilometers south of Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa.
In a Facebook post, Sidama Police Commission's Traffic Prevention and Control Directorate, citing Chief Inspector Daniel Sankura, said: "So far, it is known that 68 men and three women have died in the accident."
The regional communications office had earlier reported the death toll as 60 on Sunday evening.
