Baghaei: The attack in Lamerd is a war crime
Tehran, April 2 (Hibya) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei claimed that a U.S.-made missile targeted civilians in Lamerd.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei made a statement regarding allegations that a U.S.-made PrSM missile targeted civilians in the city of Lamerd in Iran’s Fars province.
Baghaei stated that in the attack, which was said to have taken place on February 28, 2026, a sports hall filled with young people was targeted and 21 people lost their lives.
Claiming that the missile explodes above the target, dispersing numerous fragments to increase casualties, Baghaei said:
“The new U.S.-made PrSM missile, used for the first time in combat on February 28, 2026, struck a crowded sports hall full of innocent young people in the city of Lamerd in Fars Province. In the attack, 21 young girls and boys were killed. The missile explodes above its target, scattering thousands of lethal fragments and maximizing human casualties. This is a despicable war crime.”
