Bermudez: Cuba will not obstruct the US aid offer
Havana, May 14 (Hibya) - Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez stated that Cuba would not obstruct assistance from the US government if it intends to provide aid in accordance with international standards.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez made remarks regarding aid offers expressed by the United States and the economic sanctions imposed on the Cuban people.
Referring to his country's transparency regarding international aid, Bermudez said, "Our country's experience in receiving international aid, including from the United States, has been extensive and constructive. Any donor can confirm this."
Drawing attention to the contradiction between current US policies and the aid offer, Bermudez stated, "If the US government is truly willing to provide aid in the amounts announced and in full compliance with universally accepted humanitarian aid practices, then no matter how inconsistent and paradoxical the offer may seem, it will encounter no obstacle or ingratitude from Cuba."
Providing information about Cuba’s stance, Bermudez said, "Cuba is a people that the US government itself has systematically and cruelly punished collectively."
Listing the country's urgent needs, Bermudez concluded his statement with the words: "The priorities are extremely clear: fuel, food, and medicine."
