Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez issued a message on the occasion of Africa Day.

Sharing his feelings about the meaning of the day, Bermudez said, “We celebrate Africa Day with a deep sense of belonging.”

Referring to the historical roots of the Cuban people and their ties with the African continent, President Bermudez stated, “The courage and joy of resistance that characterize Cubans owe much to that brave African heritage of those who were forced to leave the African continent as slaves and who planted their strong and unique cultures in Cuba and other lands of the American continent.”
