Budrys: 108 years ago in Vilnius, 20 wise people chose courage and freedom
Vilnius, February 16 (Hibya) – Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys said in a message marking the Day of the Restoration of the State: “Even in the hardest times, hope endures and courage shows the way.”
Budrys stated: “108 years ago, in a freezing Vilnius, 20 wise people chose courage and freedom over oppression. Their determination and perseverance built a nation that no empire could silence.”
He noted that February 16 reminds people that hope persists even in the most difficult periods: “Courage shows the way, and unity makes the impossible possible.”
Budrys also wished that every citizen today possesses the spirit, wisdom, and sense of responsibility that guided the founders of the state, emphasizing that these values enabled Lithuania to withstand the geopolitical storms of its time.
