Canada provides evacuation support to Canadians in the Middle East and the Gulf
Ottawa, March 7 (Hibya)-Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced that evacuation options via charter flights and land routes are being offered to Canadians due to ongoing conflicts in the region.
Canadian Foreign Minister Anand shared updated evacuation measures for Canadians due to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Gulf region. The minister stated that 180 Canadians were served today through charter flights such as the Dubai–Istanbul flight.
In addition, 300 seats per day on commercial flights have been reserved for Canadians wishing to leave the region. When safe, land travel via Qatar, Israel and Kuwait is also possible.
Anand stated that emergency support is being provided through officials in areas near the Iranian border and that these officials will assist Canadians crossing the border with visas and further travel arrangements.
Canada’s Foreign Ministry thanked the 109,000 Canadians who registered and stated that they are in active contact with 4,500 people. Anand advised Canadians in the region to register with the Registration of Canadians Abroad (ROCA) system for updated information and to contact the 24/7 Emergency Centre if needed.
