Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in New York.

Cassis said that the geopolitical balance in the Middle East was discussed in detail during the meeting.

Cassis said Switzerland is deeply concerned about rising tensions in the region and their impact on peace and security, noting that the stability of the region is also Switzerland's stability.

Cassis stated that their priorities are to prevent further escalation, keep diplomatic channels open and work toward a negotiated solution.

Cassis said Switzerland is ready to offer its “good offices” whenever needed and stressed that diplomatic efforts must continue.
