Costa: Europe must be prepared for unforeseen challenges
Athens, September 3 (Hibya) - European Council President António Costa met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his visit to Athens, discussing regional developments and the European Union's long-term budget.
European Council President António Costa made a statement regarding his meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Athens.
Costa said that the wildfires and natural disasters experienced during the summer months, along with the effects of the war in the Middle East and hybrid attacks originating from Russia, had once again demonstrated that Europe must be prepared for unforeseen challenges.
Costa said that for this reason, an agreement should be reached this year on a long-term budget that would strengthen the European Union's capacity to act. He added that, given Greece's strategic position in relation to the Mediterranean and the Middle East, it was important to hear Mitsotakis' assessments of the region during the meeting.
