European Council President Costa congratulated José Antonio Kast on his election as President of the Republic of Chile. Costa also congratulated the people of Chile on the elections, stating that the process reflects the strength of the country’s democracy.

Costa emphasized that Chile and the European Union are natural allies, share common values, and that economic relations between the two sides continue to grow stronger.

In his statement, Costa also thanked the current President Gabriel Boric, noting that significant efforts were made during his term to develop relations between Chile and the European Union.
