Deniz polisinden Adalar çevresinde 'deniz taksi' denetimi

Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto made a statement regarding claims circulating on social media and various platforms that “Italy has suspended the use of bases by U.S. forces.”

Denying these claims, Crosetto said, “Some are trying to convey the message that Italy has decided to suspend the use of bases by U.S. forces. This is completely false, because the bases are active, in use, and nothing has changed.”

Highlighting the government’s commitment to state continuity, Crosetto stated, “The government, as all Italian governments have always done, fully adheres to the commitments made in Parliament and the line expressed by the Supreme Defense Council, preserving a continuity that has been maintained for decades.”

Recalling the principles governing the implementation of international agreements, Crosetto emphasized the clear distinction between technical and political authorizations, stating: “Agreements clearly distinguish between matters requiring specific government authorization and those considered technically authorized. The only thing a minister needs to do is implement them.”

Finally, referring to relations between the two countries, Crosetto said, “I would like to reiterate that there is no cooling or tension between us and the United States.”
