Deputy Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar, Al Suweidi, attended a conference in Geneva
Geneva, October 30 (Hibya) - Deputy Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar, Jawhara Bint Abdulaziz Al Suweidi, participated in the 34th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent held in Geneva, Switzerland.
According to the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al Suweidi stated at the Geneva Conference that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the four 1949 Geneva Conventions, which set modern international legal standards for protection and humane treatment during war.
Al Suweidi emphasized her strong belief that international humanitarian law, as a party to the Geneva Conventions and the two Additional Protocols of 1977, provides the best framework for regulating the behavior of parties to armed conflict and protecting affected persons, provided there is political will to adhere to shared humanitarian values.
