EU Extends Sanctions Against Belarus for Another Year
Vilnius, February 26 (Hibya) - Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys announced that the European Union (EU) has decided to extend sanctions against Belarus for another year.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Budrys stated that the European Union has extended its sanctions against Belarus for an additional year.
Budrys noted that the decision taken by the Council of the European Union was due to the continued internal repression and arrests of Belarusian and foreign citizens by the Aliaksandr Lukashenko regime, the conduct of hybrid attacks against EU member states, and allowing Russia to use Belarusian territory in its war against Ukraine.
Emphasizing that they welcome the EU’s collective decision to maintain pressure on the regime responsible for serious international crimes, Budrys said, “The European Union is united on Belarus.”
