Ghebreyesus thanks Brazil for Pandemic Agreement and health financing support
Geneva, May 21 (Hibya) – WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus thanked Brazil’s Health Minister Nísia Trindade Lima for her strong contribution to the Pandemic Agreement negotiations.
In his statement, Ghebreyesus said, “I sincerely thank the Health Minister for Brazil’s strong contribution to the Pandemic Agreement negotiations. We are pleased to witness this historic moment together.” Dr. Tedros also highlighted Brazil’s sustainable financial support to the WHO during the meeting.
It was emphasized that this support was particularly delivered through Brazil’s BRICS Presidency this year.
At the end of his statement, Dr. Tedros addressed the importance of health issues in climate negotiations, saying: “I look forward to being with you at COP30; health must be at the heart of climate action.”
