Greece: The Status Quo must be fully respected
Athens, March 30 (Hibya) - Greece reacted to the prevention of the Latin Patriarch’s entry into the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, warning that “the Status Quo must be fully respected.”
The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over the prevention of the Latin Patriarch’s entry into the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem yesterday. The statement emphasized that regardless of the current circumstances, all parties must fully respect the Status Quo of the Holy Sepulchre in good faith.
The statement noted that the importance of this principle increases especially ahead of the upcoming Easter celebrations, adding that Greece expressed solidarity and support for the Christian Churches in Jerusalem. The ministry reiterated once again that maintaining respect for the Status Quo of the Holy Sepulchre under all circumstances is critical.
